Pots with purpose
All my domestic pottery is food, dishwasher and microwave safe.
As everything I make is hand created, each piece is unique. Therefore, colours and shapes may vary slightly from that shown in the images. However, I think, this is the beauty of handmade pottery.
I use a strong stoneware clay. The pottery is initially fired when it is bone dry to a temperature of 980° cent. This semi-vitrifies the clay making it hard, but still porous, enabling the pots to absorb the water-based glazes. Once the glazes and decorations have been added, the pots are re-fired to 1300° cent. This creates very robust pottery, ideal for everyday use in the modern home.
I also design and make my own glazes which adds to the uniqueness of my pottery.
